Tips to Support a Child in Play Therapy
-
Do let them know that they can tell you about session if they want, but that they don’t have to
-
Try avoid asking if they had fun; play therapy can be hard work and tiring for children and young people
-
If possible, plan some quiet time after a session, such as a walk or time to relax at home.
-
If you want to discuss something about your child or give an update it is best to arrange a call with the therapist. Karen is happy to take a call at a time convenient to you in between sessions.
-
As play therapy can include some messy play, such as paint/glue/slime it is best that the child wears comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.
